WaterQuip and Housing Finance Bank Partner to Bring Safe Drinking Water to Ugandan Schools

Housing Finance Bank and WaterQuip officials after signing the partnership agreement

WaterQuip, a leading provider of sustainable water purification solutions, has partnered with Housing Finance Bank (HFB) to make safe drinking water more accessible to schools across Uganda through affordable financing options.

The Challenge: Water and Sanitation in Ugandan Schools

Access to clean water and proper sanitation remains a critical issue in Uganda, particularly in schools. According to the Uganda Bureau of Statistics:

  • 37% of primary schools lack access to clean water.
  • 25% of secondary schools face the same challenge.
  • 60% of rural schools are without basic sanitation facilities.

This partnership aims to address these gaps by providing schools with sustainable water purification systems and financial support.

The Solution: Sustainable Water Purification and Financing

WaterQuip specializes in innovative water treatment systems, ensuring schools have a reliable and sustainable source of drinking water. Through this partnership:

  • WaterQuip will refer eligible schools to HFB for financing.
  • Schools will receive full installation, monitoring, and maintenance services from WaterQuip.
  • HFB will assess and finance qualifying schools, offering financial literacy training to school administrators.
  • Both organizations will collaborate on awareness campaigns to promote the initiative.

Impact on Education and Public Health

Investing in Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) initiatives strengthens public health, education, and community well-being. This partnership aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6) – Clean Water and Sanitation.

“This collaboration ensures that financial barriers no longer prevent schools from accessing clean water,” said Adrine Atumanya, Co-founder & CEO of WaterQuip. “Together, we can transform the lives of thousands of students.”
