UNEB to Release 2024 UACE Results This Friday

Prof. Celestino Obua making the announcement

The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has finalized preparations for the release of the 2024 Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) results, scheduled for Friday, March 14th, 2025.

The announcement, set to take place at State House Nakasero at 11:00 am, marks a critical moment for over 142,000 candidates who sat for the exams last year.

The results, which determine eligibility for university admission and other higher education opportunities, will be accessible online via the UNEB eReg Portal or through an SMS service.

Schools will also provide results to their respective candidates.

Preparing for the Big Day

On Wednesday, March 12th, UNEB Chair Prof. Celestino Obua and Executive Director Dan Odongo briefed Education Minister Janet Museveni on the results.

The meeting ensured the Minister is well-prepared to address any questions or concerns during the official release.

“This is a pivotal moment for our students and the education sector as a whole,” said Prof. Obua. “We are confident that the results reflect the hard work and dedication of both the candidates and their teachers.”

The briefing also highlighted UNEB’s efforts to maintain the integrity and credibility of the examination process, which has faced challenges in recent years, including allegations of malpractice and logistical hurdles.

What’s at Stake?

The UACE exams, taken at the end of two years of advanced secondary education, are a gateway to higher education and professional careers.

For many students, the results will determine whether they can pursue their dreams of attending university or entering specialized fields.

This year’s results come amid ongoing reforms in Uganda’s education system, including efforts to improve access to quality education and address disparities between urban and rural schools.

The government has also emphasized the importance of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education, which is expected to be reflected in the performance trends.

How to Access the Results

Candidates can check their results through the following methods:

  • Online: Visit the UNEB eReg Portal and enter the required details.
  • SMS: Send an SMS to 6600 with the candidate’s information.
  • Schools: Results will be available at the candidates’ respective schools.

UNEB has urged candidates to remain calm and avoid falling victim to scams or fraudulent results services.

Uganda’s Education Landscape

The release of the UACE results is more than just an academic milestone; it is a reflection of Uganda’s broader education challenges and achievements.

While the country has made significant strides in increasing access to education, issues such as teacher shortages, inadequate infrastructure, and funding gaps persist.

“The results are a testament to the resilience of our students and teachers,” said Minister Museveni. “But they also remind us of the work that remains to be done to ensure every child has access to quality education.”
