Uganda Breweries Limited has announced a UGX 100 million sponsorship for the 100th Rotary Uganda District 9213 Conference, set for April 9th-12th, 2025, at Civil Service College in Jinja.
Speaking at the sponsorship announcement, UBL Managing Director Andrew Kilonzo highlighted the long-standing collaboration between UBL and Rotary.
He praised Rotarians for their dedication to volunteering and community service, particularly in areas like water and sanitation—causes UBL has championed over the years.
“As UBL, we are excited to partner with Rotary in the forthcoming conference to celebrate the achievements of the Rotary Year 2023/24. I am informed that several CSR activities will be held alongside the conference, positively impacting communities,” said Kilonzo.
UBL Board Chairman, CP Jimmy Mugerwa, emphasized the importance of such collaborations.
“Engagements like these prove the power and impact we can have when Rotarians unite for a common cause. Today, Uganda Breweries reaffirms its commitment to supporting initiatives that drive positive change and social responsibility. Let’s all embrace the spirit of service above self and volunteerism that Rotary embodies,” he stated.
UBL has a history of supporting Rotary initiatives, including the annual Rotary Cancer Run, which raises funds for cancer awareness and access to better healthcare.
In 2018, UBL partnered with Rotary and the National Forest Authority in a UGX 205 million project to restore Gangu and Nawandigi Forest Reserves in Mpigi District, along with other forests in the Lake Victoria catchment area.
Under Rotary’s ‘Service Above Self’ motto, UBL has also worked on ensuring access to quality water, healthcare, and disease prevention in communities, aligning with the company’s sustainability goals.
Rotary District 9213 Governor, Anne Nkutu, applauded UBL for its support, noting that the funding will help ensure the conference’s success.
She explained that District Conferences allow Rotarians to celebrate achievements, assess progress, and hold each other accountable to their commitments.
Both organizations believe that a successful conference, bringing together great minds, will further Rotary’s impactful work in Uganda and beyond.
