Ugandan influencer Paul Webs, known online as MrHashtag (@paulwebs1), has triggered an internet storm after releasing disturbing footage involving his ex-partner and their child.
In a fiery post shared on X, Paul claimed he has endured years of emotional and physical abuse—culminating in a dramatic incident during Christmas 2022.
The now-viral post features a cryptic image of a yellow-and-black football on a tiled floor, with a woman in a blue skirt and black boots lurking in the background. But it’s the caption and claims that lit up the internet.
“She pulled a knife on me. Hit me with a mingling stick—nearly blinded me,” Paul wrote, describing a violent confrontation he says forced him to hand over his son and banish her from his life.
Two weeks later, according to Paul, his ex returned without their child. That was the final straw. He says he packed her belongings and asked her to leave for good. Since then, he alleges, she and her allies—including what he calls “naughty feminist friends”—have deliberately cut him off from his son’s life.
“Who is the father of the boy?” he provocatively asked, hinting at doubts over paternity and accusing her family of keeping him on the sidelines while making all parenting decisions—yet expecting him to cover the bills.

Social Media Frenzy Over a Domestic Drama Gone Public
The backlash—and support—came swiftly. Some users sympathized with Paul’s pain. Others condemned him for airing private family drama online.
The revelation that his ex allegedly saved his number as “Big Fool” only added to the frenzy, with X users dissecting every detail of the photo and caption.
Popular commentator @soja_buffalo zeroed in on the woman’s boots, while @AcholaFaridah praised Paul’s storytelling as “cinematic.” Another user, @Peacelasha, demanded the full video, not just a teaser photo.
Paul, in turn, hinted this was just the “tip of the iceberg,” claiming he has more damning evidence stored on Google Drive—including a close-up of his swollen forehead.
A Private Battle in a Public Crisis
While Paul’s saga has captivated audiences, it also shines a light on deeper issues within Ugandan society.
A 2020 United Nations report found that 95% of Ugandan women and girls have experienced physical or sexual violence after the age of 15. Meanwhile, Afrobarometer data reveals persistent gender gaps in education and economic independence—despite Uganda’s long-standing efforts to promote equality.
Critics argue that these toxic dynamics often play out silently in homes, and when they erupt in public, they reflect broader systemic issues.
“I love my son,” Paul emphasized. “And I will fight to protect him from being poisoned against me.”
Whether Paul’s next reveal escalates the feud or brings closure, one thing is clear: Uganda is watching. His story has struck a nerve—and raised uncomfortable questions about domestic violence, gender roles, and parental rights in the digital age.
