MBALE— Salam Charity has galvanized major community support for the ongoing Nakaloke Centre Mosque project in Mbale, securing over UGX 15 million in donations during a recent visit by its Managing Director, Hajji Karim Kaliisa.
The fundraising drive took place during Salam Jumah, an outreach initiative led by Salam TV and its charitable wing. The visit served both as a progress inspection and a community rallying point.
“We must work together to build Nakaloke Centre Mosque,” Hajji Kaliisa urged, while addressing Muslims and community leaders gathered at the site.
Support poured in from local partners, including Bugisu Cooperative Union (BCU) and Mpogo Islamic Centre, underscoring the solidarity within Mbale’s Muslim community.
Salam Charity has emphasized that the mosque, once completed, will not only be a place of worship but also a beacon of unity, learning, and development.
Track Record of Self-Sustained Success
Hajji Kaliisa proudly referenced several mosques and schools built without external donors, such as:
- Lukaaku Qur’an School
- Nyamitanga Madrast Noor
- Masjid Ndejje
- Bukiimu Mosque
- Masjid Mbogo Kawempe
- Masjid Kabasanda
These successes, he said, prove that local, faith-driven development is possible when communities stand together.
Katakwi: The Next Urgent Mission
While pushing for the completion of the Nakaloke Mosque, Salam Charity is now turning its attention to Katakwi District, where Muslim communities are in dire need.
According to a recent survey, many Muslims in Katakwi still pray in grass-thatched mosques, lack clean water, and struggle to meet basic needs.
“Access to proper mosques, schools, and water isn’t a privilege—it’s a right,” Kaliisa said. “We’re calling on everyone to contribute to transforming Katakwi.”
Plans are already underway to mobilize funds and resources for constructing mosques, madrassas, and boreholes in Katakwi. Salam Charity will also continue to oversee and support active projects like Nakaloke, ensuring that no community is left behind.
With strong local leadership and unwavering community support, Salam Charity remains confident that the multi-billion Nakaloke Centre Mosque will soon stand tall as a symbol of faith, resilience, and development.
