Kampala, Uganda – Swangz Avenue has officially announced the comeback of Roast and Rhyme, and this time, it’s moving from the lakeside to the city center.
Uganda’s most iconic music, food, and lifestyle festival will now take place on June 1st, 2025, at Hockey Grounds, Lugogo, after a brief postponement earlier this year.
Originally set for February 23rd at Jahazi Pier in Munyonyo, the Reggae Ragga Nyam Nyam edition was postponed due to unforeseen circumstances.
On Friday, organizers confirmed the new venue and date during a lively press briefing at the very grounds that will host the upcoming edition.
Swangz Avenue CEO Julius Kyazze emphasized the festival’s evolution, saying, “Roast and Rhyme isn’t just a concert—it’s a lifestyle gathering. We’re bringing Kampala together for a day of roast, rhythm, and relaxation.”
Now in its 23rd edition, Roast and Rhyme has become a cultural staple since its 2016 debut. It has steadily grown from a laid-back Sunday hangout to one of Uganda’s most anticipated music and culinary experiences, blending live music with mouthwatering grills in an easygoing, urban setting.
What to Expect
This year’s city edition promises a vibrant, fresh twist—keeping the reggae-ragga energy but now in the heart of Kampala. Festival-goers can expect a curated mix of top-tier live performances, food stalls, grill zones, drink tents, and chill-out areas.
Confirmed performers include:
- Beenie Gunter
- Winnie Nwagi
- Karole Kasita
- Fyno
…and more acts to be revealed as the date approaches.
The lineup features a mix of established stars and rising voices, all promising electrifying sets for the Kampala crowd. The artists have also expressed gratitude to fans for their patience during the event’s postponement.
Ticket Validity & Perks
In a gesture of appreciation, Swangz Avenue announced that all tickets purchased for the original February date remain valid. Even better—each ticket holder will now receive a second ticket for free, making this edition a perfect opportunity to bring a friend along and double the fun.
Ticket prices remain unchanged:

Tickets are available online and at select outlets citywide. With the new location and expanded perks, demand is expected to spike in the coming weeks.
