KAMPALA — PostBank Uganda has announced the appointment of Martin Mugisha as its new Executive Director of Operations, a move seen as key to advancing the bank’s growth strategy and operational efficiency.
The announcement, made Monday, signals the bank’s intention to reinforce its leadership team with seasoned professionals capable of steering its ambitious transformation agenda.
Mugisha is no stranger to the institution. He previously served as Chief Credit Officer, where he was instrumental in shaping the bank’s credit and risk frameworks.
His new role marks another step forward in a career spanning over 20 years in Uganda’s banking sector, with experience drawn from both local and regional financial institutions.
“Martin’s leadership and proven track record in risk management will elevate the bank as we navigate evolving market dynamics,” said Andrew Owiny, Chairperson of the Board.
His appointment adds to the growing number of executive directors at PostBank Uganda—a direct response to the operational demands brought on by the bank’s aggressive expansion over the past few years.
Julius Kakeeto, PostBank’s CEO, echoed similar sentiments, pointing to Mugisha’s deep expertise in business origination and risk strategy as vital for the next phase of the bank’s evolution.
“He’s well-positioned to lead critical functions at a time when performance, customer experience, and resilience are more important than ever,” Kakeeto noted.
Mugisha’s rise comes as PostBank Uganda continues to scale up its operations and digitization efforts, targeting both rural and urban segments with innovative banking solutions.
The bank has made substantial strides in recent years, transitioning from a Tier 2 credit institution to a fully licensed commercial bank.
His new position will involve overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring efficiency across departments, and delivering on strategic goals tied to customer satisfaction, digital transformation, and compliance.
The leadership reshuffle reflects PostBank’s growing ambition to remain competitive in Uganda’s increasingly dynamic financial landscape.
With a stronger executive team, the bank appears poised to meet regulatory expectations, attract more customers, and deepen financial inclusion.
This appointment not only fills a critical operational gap but also underscores the institution’s confidence in homegrown talent with a deep understanding of Uganda’s banking terrain.
As the market shifts and customer expectations evolve, all eyes will be on Mugisha and the executive team to deliver results that cement PostBank Uganda’s status as a top-tier player in the financial services sector.
