PostBank Uganda electrified the 2025 All-Star Women’s Basketball Tournament at Lugogo Indoor Stadium on Sunday, proving that its impact extends beyond banking. As the event’s headline sponsor, the bank played a pivotal role in making the day unforgettable.

PostBank’s Dominance in Exhibition Game

Led by former Falcons and UCU Canons forward Steven Mwesige, PostBank triumphed over the Parliament of Uganda team, winning 60-52 in one of the day’s exhibition games.

The victory earned PostBank winners’ medals, showcasing their prowess both on and off the court.

PostBank’s Managing Director Julius Kakeeto and Head of Marketing and Communications Priscilla Akora graced the occasion, actively participating in the awards ceremony.

Several legislators took part in the action, including Amuria District Woman MP Suzan Amero and Koboko Woman MP Sharifah Aete Taban. Omoro County MP Andrew Ojok Oulanya was also present, cheering on fellow parliamentarians.

Team Ageno Clinches Title

Team Ageno successfully defended their championship title, edging out Team Kamwada 52-48 in a dramatic final. Led by JT Lady Jaguars and Gazelles forward Sarah Ageno, the defending champions stayed composed in the final minutes to claim victory.

Team Kamwada led 48-47 with under a minute left, but Margaret Bagala’s crucial steal and three-point play swung momentum in favor of Team Ageno.

A final turnover by Team Kamwada sealed their fate as Fildauce Namuleme’s free throws extended the lead.

In the Legends game, Team Franceas defeated Team Viola 44-22, celebrating former women’s basketball icons.

More Than Just Basketball

The event kicked off with a mentorship session where former and current players taught children valuable life skills alongside basketball techniques. Musical stars King Saha and Vinka added excitement with high-energy performances.

PostBank also provided cash prizes, awarding Team Ageno Shs3 million and Team Kamwada Shs2 million. Individual accolades included:

  • Top Rebounder: Mercy Batamuliza (Team Kamwada)
