Kampala, Uganda — Pastor Jonathan Nalebo, known to many as Apostle Jona, has officially confirmed his separation from wife Enid Mirembe—just days before a bold public proposal to born-again DJ Alisha Uwase lit up social media.
In a heartfelt statement, the former Galaxy FM journalist turned city preacher took full responsibility for the collapse of his seven-year marriage.
“I take full accountability for falling short,” he wrote. “She’s an incredible woman. I pray she finds the love she deserves.”
The post, which cited Psalm 34:18, marked a somber tone. Yet it arrived just days before his surprise online marriage proposal to DJ Alisha—a move that stunned followers and sparked a storm of debate.
While many were still digesting the news of his marital split, Jona was already turning a new page.
On April 13th, Galaxy FM’s X account featured photos of DJ Alisha, a music deejay who renounced bars, alcohol, and premarital sex in her journey of salvation.

“Meet the born again DJ Alisha,” the post read. “The Lord is indeed amazing.”
Moments later, Apostle Jona fired back with a public proposal:
“Hi Alisha, can we get married?”
His comment caused instant buzz. But two days later, he doubled down. When Alisha posted, “He makes everything beautiful… in His time,” Jona replied with Scripture—Ecclesiastes 3:11.
“He has made everything beautiful in its time… no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.”
Some applauded his faith-driven openness and willingness to start over. Others criticized the timing, calling it insensitive and rushed given the fresh separation.
In a longer message to his followers, Jona acknowledged deep personal failure in the marriage.
“She was too perfect for me to keep up with,” he admitted. “I mishandled the treasure she was.”
He said the decision to separate was mutual and made for peace, healing, and the well-being of their children, who will remain in Mirembe’s care.
“The enemy often comes for the most precious things—and family is one of them,” he reflected.
Despite the social media whirlwind, Jona remained rooted in his faith and hopeful for the future.
“If love ever comes again, I hope it finds me healed, whole, and more anchored in Christ,” he wrote. “Until then, stay blessed.”
Whether a publicity stunt or a genuine new beginning, Apostle Jona’s very public pivot from heartbreak to proposal has reignited conversations around love, faith, and the public responsibilities of spiritual leaders.
