As the Kawempe North by-election campaigns draw to a close, National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate Counsel Elias Nalukoola Luyiimbazi has made a bold promise: to safeguard the vote against any form of rigging.
With polling day set for Thursday, Nalukoola is rallying his supporters to ensure their voices are heard and their votes protected.
A Call to Action
Nalukoola, speaking on NBS Live at 1, emphasized the importance of voter vigilance.
“The people who will vote for NUP are invited to protect their vote. Voting alone is not enough,” he declared.
He urged supporters to not only turn out in large numbers but also stay after casting their ballots to witness the declaration of results.
“We have organized a team of leaders and followers to observe and protect our votes,” he added.
Confidence in the Process
Nalukoola expressed confidence in his team’s preparedness, noting that they have undergone extensive training to ensure a smooth electoral process.
“We have trained our people and given them the necessary skills. We know what we are doing, and we believe that the dictator will not take our victory,” he said.
His final campaign rally will be held in Bwaise I, one of the key parishes in Kawempe North. Nalukoola called on supporters to attend in large numbers, signaling a strong finish to his campaign.

Ready for the Debate
Ahead of the NBS TV debate on Monday night, Nalukoola showcased his confidence in public discourse.
“We are more than ready because voters are in our favor. I am also ready for the debate—that is my game. I have been debating since primary and secondary school.
In 2001, I won for Makerere University in the Inter-University debate, where I received a laptop and a certificate,” he shared.

Honoring Ssegirinya’s Legacy
The by-election follows the tragic passing of former MP Muhammad Ssegirinya, who died on January 9 at the age of 37.
Ssegirinya’s legacy looms large over the race, with Nalukoola positioning himself as the candidate to continue his work.
What’s at Stake?
The Kawempe North by-election is more than just a local contest—it’s a test of NUP’s strength in one of its strongholds.
With campaigns concluding on Tuesday and polling day set for Thursday, all eyes are on Kawempe North to see if Nalukoola can secure a victory for NUP.
