In a glittering ceremony in Casablanca, Morocco, two of Uganda’s most influential leaders were celebrated for their outstanding contributions to Africa’s development.
Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja and Makerere University Vice Chancellor Professor Barnabas Nawangwe were named African Leadership Magazine (ALM) Persons of the Year 2024, cementing their places among the continent’s most transformative figures.
A Night of Prestige and Recognition
The 14th Annual ALM Persons of the Year Awards, held on February 21–22, 2025, brought together some of Africa’s brightest minds and leaders.
The event, graced by high-profile attendees such as H.E. Andry Rajoelina, President of Madagascar, and H.E. Dr. Jakaya Kikwete, former President of Tanzania, was a celebration of excellence, innovation, and leadership.

Professor c, Vice Chancellor of Makerere University, was honoured for his exceptional leadership in higher education.
