In a heartwarming display of solidarity and compassion, the Muslim World League (MWL) has launched its Ramadhan Food Basket Distribution 2025 initiative in Uganda.
The program, aimed at supporting over 2,000 less privileged Muslim families, was officially unveiled at the MWL’s Old Kampala headquarters.
The event was graced by distinguished guests, including His Excellency Ambassador Mohammed Bin Khalil Faloudah of Saudi Arabia to Uganda, who highlighted the Kingdom’s unwavering commitment to serving humanity worldwide.
A Lifeline for Vulnerable Communities
The Ramadhan Food Basket Distribution 2025 will provide essential food items to underprivileged families, including Ugandan citizens, Sudanese, Congolese, and Somali refugees. Each food basket contains:
- 15kg of maize flour
- 5kg of rice
- 5kg of beans
- 3kg of sugar
- 2 liters of cooking oil
The distribution will focus on areas such as Jinja, Iganga, Busembatya, Masaka, Luwero, and select ghettos in Kampala.
By targeting these regions, the initiative aims to ensure that vulnerable communities are well-prepared for the holy month of Ramadhan.

A Message of Gratitude and Unity
Uganda’s Ambassador to Sudan, H.E. Dr. Rashid Yahya Ssemuddu, expressed deep gratitude for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s remarkable humanitarian efforts.
“The Kingdom’s support has been a beacon of hope for many Ugandans and refugees alike,” he said.
Sheikh Abdu Obed Kamulegeya also commended the Muslim World League for its tireless efforts over the years.
“This initiative is a testament to the MWL’s commitment to serving humanity. I urge other Muslim organizations to follow their example,” he added.
A Commitment to Global Impact
The Muslim World League’s initiative underscores its dedication to making a positive impact globally.
By launching the distribution early, the MWL ensures that less privileged Muslim communities can observe Ramadhan with dignity and ease.
Why This Matters
Ramadhan is a time of reflection, prayer, and charity. For many families, however, the month can be challenging due to financial constraints.
The MWL’s food basket distribution not only addresses immediate needs but also fosters a sense of unity and compassion within the community.
The Muslim World League’s initiative is a shining example of how compassion and action can transform lives.
As we approach Ramadhan, let’s remember the importance of giving and supporting those in need. Ramadan Mubarak!
