MTN Donates 30 Computers to Boost ICT Skills at Bugiri School

Bugiri — In a bold step toward bridging Uganda’s digital divide, MTN Uganda has donated 30 state-of-the-art computers and fully furnished an ICT laboratory at Town View PEAS High School in Bugiri District.

The move is part of a wider push to boost ICT literacy and unlock new learning opportunities for students in underserved areas.

The donation was made under the MTN Foundation Digital Access Project, a Shs 285 million initiative aimed at transforming digital education in 30 PEAS (Promoting Equality in African Schools) institutions across Uganda.

During the official handover ceremony held at the school, dignitaries including Bugiri District Woman MP Agnes Wejuli praised MTN’s commitment to education.

“This is a milestone in empowering our students with the digital skills they need to thrive in today’s world,” she said. “Bugiri students can now dream bigger and access the same online opportunities as their urban counterparts.”

MTN Uganda’s Head of Commercial, Eastern Region, Allan Njagala, emphasized that digital inclusion should not be a luxury.

“We’re changing the story in rural communities like Bugiri. With this lab, every learner now has a fair shot at the digital future,” he noted.

The fully equipped ICT lab includes:

  • 30 brand-new desktop computers
  • High-speed internet access (free for one year)
  • Power backup solutions
  • CCTV surveillance cameras
  • Printers and other essential accessories

This comprehensive setup is aligned with Uganda’s new school curriculum, which requires students to actively engage in research and digital learning.

Moses Wobugwe, Head Teacher at Town View PEAS, welcomed the donation with gratitude.

“Our learners now have the tools to match the demands of a modern, research-based curriculum,” he said. “Thanks to MTN, e-learning is no longer a distant dream for us.”

The initiative is expected to benefit over 16,000 students nationwide, ensuring that children in rural Uganda receive the same exposure to technology as those in cities.

Beyond hardware, students will also gain access to the MTN Skills Academy, an online platform offering digital skills training tailored to youth.

This latest move reaffirms MTN Uganda’s larger mission: to create a connected, empowered generation by investing in education and innovation—no matter where learners come from.

With this new digital lab, Bugiri’s young minds are now better equipped to chase opportunity, creativity, and global relevance—right from the heart of their village school.
