Mbarara Police Probe Suspected Suicide of 14-Year-Old Pupil

Police in Mbarara City South Division are investigating the suspected suicide of a 14-year-old Primary Five pupil from Rwemiko Primary School.

The young girl, a resident of Kabamba Cell, Kicwamba Ward, was found hanging at the home of a man identified only as Otafiire.

The tragic discovery was reported yesterday morning at around 9:40 AM when Abaasa, the area chairman, received a call from a concerned resident.

The caller informed him that the girl, who lived at Otafiire’s home, had taken her own life using a rope.

Police Respond to Distressing Scene

Upon receiving the report, Abaasa rushed to the scene to verify the situation before alerting the police.

Law enforcement officers responded promptly, documenting the scene and transferring the body to Mbarara City Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

Samson Kasasira, spokesperson for the Rwizi Region Police, confirmed the incident, stating, “Investigations are still ongoing to establish the exact cause of the tragedy.”

Questions Surrounding the Incident

Authorities have yet to determine the reason behind the girl’s actions. The community is left in shock, grappling with the loss of a young life.
