Mathew Nabwiso, Humphrey Nabimanya Among Ugandan Nominees as AMVCA 2025 Voting Opens

KAMPALA, Uganda — The Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) has officially announced the nominees for its 11th edition, with Ugandan creatives Mathew Nabwiso and Humphrey Nabimanya among those recognized for their contribution to African storytelling.

Their film, Sabotage, produced by Nabwiso Films, secured a nomination in the Best Indigenous Language – East Africa category, spotlighting Uganda’s growing presence on the continental film stage.

The announcement was broadcast live across Africa Magic channels, showcasing the cultural and creative diversity that AMVCA is known for. The awards continue to champion excellence in African film and television by honoring the talents shaping the industry.

Dr. Busola Tejumola, Executive Head of Content and Channels for West Africa at MultiChoice, emphasized the caliber of this year’s nominees:

“The nominees reflect the depth and innovation shaping our industry. Each entry captures a unique aspect of Africa’s vibrant storytellers, setting the stage for the next wave of creative voices.”

This year’s awards will honor productions released or broadcast between December 1, 2023, and December 31, 2024. The AMVCA 2025 features 27 categories, including:

  • 18 non-voting categories
  • 9 audience voting categories
  • 2 special juried awards: Lifetime Achievement and Trailblazer

The non-voting categories will be adjudicated by a panel led by acclaimed filmmaker Femi Odugbemi, while audience members across Africa are invited to cast their votes for the public categories.
