A new streaming platform, Kwiso TV, has officially launched, offering a dedicated space for Ugandan and East African filmmakers to showcase their work.
Unveiled by Sauti Plus Media Hub, Kwiso TV aims to strengthen the local film industry by increasing access to homegrown content.
Kwiso TV will feature a diverse range of content, including drama series, documentaries, and original productions. The platform is designed to give local creators a powerful outlet to reach wider audiences while preserving and promoting East African storytelling.
Humphrey Nabimanya, CEO of Sauti Plus Media Hub, described Kwiso TV as a transformative step for local content creators.
“We want to provide a platform that showcases the best of Ugandan and East African content,” Nabimanya said during the launch event.
The launch comes at a time when demand for local content is growing, but filmmakers continue to struggle with limited funding and distribution channels. Kwiso TV seeks to bridge that gap by creating a platform where local stories can thrive.
Kwiso TV will be accessible through both web and mobile applications, ensuring easy access for audiences across the region.
The platform has already secured partnerships with several leading Ugandan filmmakers and production houses, ensuring a steady flow of fresh content.
“We believe in the power of African stories,” Nabimanya added. “Kwiso TV will not only provide visibility for our creative talent but also empower filmmakers to explore new creative horizons.”
With its focus on regional storytelling and easy access, Kwiso TV is poised to become a key player in East Africa’s growing film and media landscape.
