Media mogul Julius Kyazze has acquired a significant stake in NRG Radio Uganda, setting the stage for a major transformation in African broadcasting.
Through his investment company, MidNight Sun Ltd, Kyazze now holds a key position on the board of NRG’s parent company, AfriDigital. This strategic move positions Kyazze to lead brand development, programming, and market expansion across Africa.
Kyazze, known for his leadership at Swangz Avenue, Buzz Group Africa, and The Quollective, is widely regarded as a pioneer in Africa’s creative and entertainment industries.
Under his leadership, Swangz Avenue became one of East Africa’s leading record labels and production houses, working with major brands like MTN, Airtel, Disney, and Sony Music.
Buzz Group Africa has also made waves as a top-tier brand experience agency, curating events for clients such as Uganda Breweries, Coca-Cola, and Standard Chartered Bank.
Kyazze described his new role at NRG as a natural progression of his mission to create platforms that reflect African culture and engage the youth.
“This isn’t a shift—it’s a scale-up,” Kyazze stated. “AfriDigital and NRG embody the bold energy that resonates with today’s African youth. I’m excited to shape this platform’s future and expand into new territories.”
Since its launch in January 2023, NRG Radio Uganda has captured the attention of young audiences with dynamic content across radio, digital platforms, and live events.
With Kyazze’s expertise, NRG is set to introduce innovative programming and deepen its influence beyond Uganda’s borders.
Alykhan Hudani, Founder and Chairman of AfriDigital, praised the partnership, saying, “Kyazze’s visionary leadership and deep understanding of African culture will help elevate NRG into a pan-African media powerhouse.”
While the exact stake Kyazze acquired remains undisclosed, he confirmed that it is a “significant equity” position, enabling him to drive strategic decisions and align NRG with his other businesses.
Kyazze will retain his leadership roles at Swangz Avenue, Buzz Group Africa, and The Quollective while steering NRG Radio’s growth.
“We’re building a new kind of media experience—blending storytelling, sound, and culture into a dynamic platform,” he said.
With Kyazze at the helm, NRG Radio Uganda is poised to redefine African broadcasting, offering a fresh, youth-focused approach to media and content creation.
