In a shocking and brutal attack, Peter Muzira, a 34-year-old businessman from Luzinga Central Village, Kamuli District, was shot dead by unknown gunmen in Buwenge Town Council, Jinja District.
The assailants, traveling in a saloon car, ambushed Muzira as he rode on a boda boda with two others.
The attackers shot Muzira in the chest and leg, killing him on the spot. In a disturbing twist, they stole his mobile phones, trousers, and even his underwear before fleeing the scene.
Police Launch Manhunt for Assailants
Kiira Region Police spokesperson James Mubi confirmed the incident, stating that the attackers escaped swiftly after the killing.
Police have arrested two individuals—a female passenger and the boda boda rider—who were traveling with the deceased. Both are assisting with investigations at CPS Buwenge.
SSP Charles Nsaba, Kiira Region Police Commander, has ordered a joint security operation to track down the attackers.
“This was a brutal and calculated attack. We are pursuing every possible lead,” said SSP Monday Johnson Agaba, Regional CID.
Key Evidence Recovered
The Buwenge Police Station, led by Division Police Commander SP Oyee Morris, responded quickly to the scene, recovering critical evidence, including four cartridges and a hood.
Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities that could aid in the investigation.
“We strongly warn the assailants to surrender. Evading justice is only temporary,” Agaba added.
Motive Remains Unclear
Police are still investigating the motive behind the killing. Muzira’s family and the public have been assured that all leads are being pursued.
Authorities are calling on anyone with credible information to come forward and assist in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
