Flavia Tumusiime has made a celebrated return to mainstream media after being appointed as the new Head of Broadcast at Nation Media Group (NMG) Uganda, one of the country’s leading media houses.

Her appointment, confirmed this week, places her at the helm of some of Uganda’s most influential broadcast brands, including NTV Uganda, Spark TV, KFM, and Dembe FM.

A return to familiar ground

Flavia’s new role is not entirely unfamiliar territory. She previously worked as a news anchor at NTV Uganda, one of NMG’s flagship stations.

Before that, she was a household name at Capital FM, where her smooth delivery and commanding presence earned her a loyal following.

Her media career kicked off on WBS TV’s “Teens Club”, where she grew from a bubbly teenage host into one of Uganda’s most respected broadcasters.

After stepping away from the public eye to focus on private pursuits, her return to the media spotlight comes with high expectations—and even higher stakes.

Taking over from industry veterans

Tumusiime replaces Johnson Omollo, who exited the role earlier this year. She also steps into the legacy of Agnes Konde, who held the position between 2013 and 2017 and was instrumental in shaping NMG’s multimedia strategy during a transformative period.

Her ascension to the top broadcast position signifies a renewed focus on innovative content and audience engagement—areas where Flavia has consistently thrived.

What her leadership means for NMG

As Head of Broadcast, Flavia will oversee programming strategy, content development, and brand positioning for NMG’s entire broadcast portfolio.

With digital transformation reshaping the media industry, her modern sensibility, credibility, and deep understanding of Ugandan audiences could play a pivotal role in redefining the company’s media presence.

Insiders believe her leadership will help reinvigorate storytelling and attract younger viewers and listeners, especially across digital platforms.

“Flavia brings a blend of experience, integrity, and vision. She understands both the legacy of broadcast and the demands of the digital age,” said a senior source at NMG who preferred anonymity.

A media powerhouse with fresh momentum

Tumusiime’s comeback is more than a personal milestone—it reflects a broader shift within Uganda’s media ecosystem.

As competition intensifies and consumer habits evolve, media organizations are betting on charismatic and strategic leaders to steer their brands into the future.

For Flavia, the challenge will be balancing legacy media expectations with audience-first innovation. But if her past is anything to go by, she’s more than ready to rise to the occasion.
