Ecobank Partners with Interswitch to Expand Digital Banking Access

Grace Muliisa and Moris discuss at the Ecobank-Interswitch partnership launch

Ecobank Uganda has entered into a strategic alliance with Interswitch Uganda, a top-tier fintech company, in a move set to transform the country’s digital banking landscape.

The newly announced partnership aims to widen access to modern financial services by combining Ecobank’s pan-African reach with Interswitch’s robust digital payment infrastructure.

Through this collaboration, Ecobank customers will now enjoy access to over 650 ATM locations across Uganda, enhancing convenience and improving nationwide financial access.

At the core of the partnership is a shared mission: driving financial inclusion by simplifying and modernizing banking for individuals and businesses alike.

“We are thrilled to partner with Interswitch to further our commitment to digital transformation and financial inclusion,” said Grace Muliisa, Ecobank Uganda Managing Director. “This collaboration aligns perfectly with our goal of providing seamless and innovative banking solutions to our customers.”

The benefits go far beyond just ATM access. The partnership also aims to improve payment efficiency, increase security, and expand access to cashless financial services—key pillars for Uganda’s rapidly growing digital economy.

Interswitch Uganda’s Country General Manager, Moris Seguya, echoed the enthusiasm, saying,

“This partnership reflects our shared vision to deliver advanced digital banking services. We remain committed to empowering individuals and businesses with seamless, secure, and reliable financial tools.”

With Uganda’s banking sector seeing a growing demand for user-friendly, tech-driven financial services, this partnership could be a game-changer—especially in underserved areas where physical banking infrastructure is limited.

The collaboration also positions both companies to compete more effectively with traditional banks and emerging mobile money providers, offering customers broader choices and better access to financial services.

As Uganda continues to embrace digital transformation, such partnerships are critical in bridging the gap between formal banking and unbanked communities.

And with over 650 ATMs now at customers’ disposal, this deal is more than just symbolic—it’s practical progress.
