Dfcu Bank Donates UGX 30M in Food Relief to Katanga and Kasokoso Slums

In a heartwarming gesture of solidarity, Dfcu Bank has donated food relief worth Shs30 million to over 200 vulnerable families in Katanga and Kasokoso slums, Kampala.

Partnering with the Ayitah Charity Foundation, the initiative aims to support households during the holy month of Ramadan.

What’s in the Relief Packages?

Each family received essential items, including:

  • Sugar
  • Rice
  • Posho
  • Beans
  • Cooking oil
  • Laundry soap

The bank plans to extend similar relief efforts to more families across Uganda in the coming weeks.

A Commitment to Social Responsibility

Dfcu staff actively participated in the distribution, underscoring the bank’s dedication to uplifting communities.

“Ramadan is a time of reflection, unity, and giving,” said Maureen Nagasha, Communications and Events Manager at Dfcu Bank.

“True corporate leadership is about making a real impact beyond financial services. This initiative reflects our deep commitment to ensuring vulnerable communities have access to basic needs.”

Ayitah Charity Foundation’s Role

Sophia Nyanzi, CEO of the Ayitah Charity Foundation, praised the partnership, highlighting the foundation’s ongoing efforts to improve lives.

“We’ve positively impacted over 1,500 lives through various humanitarian initiatives. This collaboration with Dfcu Bank is another step toward supporting those in need,” Nyanzi said.

Beyond Food Relief

Dfcu Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives extend beyond food relief. The bank actively supports programs in healtheducation, and disaster relief, aiming to improve livelihoods across Uganda.
