Kampala — Dei Group of Companies has launched Bella Grain Wheat Flour, a game-changing addition to Uganda’s food industry. The premium, locally produced flour brand promises to boost food security and deliver consistent quality to both commercial and household bakers.
The grand unveiling took place at Sheraton Hotel, Kampala, where company leaders highlighted Bella Grain as more than just a product—it’s a strategic move to fill long-standing gaps in Uganda’s baking ecosystem.
“Bella Grain is a homegrown solution built for Uganda’s bakers,” said Ronald Ssemakula Katali, General Manager of Dei Group. “We’ve listened to the challenges of inconsistent flour quality and poor yields—and we’re offering something better.”
Made in Uganda, for Uganda, Bella Grain is produced under Dei Industries International Ltd, which maintains international production standards. The flour comes in two major variants: Bakers’ Flour, ideal for bread and buns, and Home Baking Flour, perfect for chapatis, mandazi, and everyday pastries.
What sets Bella Grain apart is its high water absorption rate. This means bakers can get more dough from the same quantity of flour—effectively improving yield without compromising quality.
“If your 50kg of regular flour gives you two jerrycans of dough, Bella Grain gives you two and a half,” Katali explained. “It’s real value for money.”
The company achieves this through a meticulous process that reduces moisture content below the 13.5% UNBS threshold. As a result, bakers can add more water to the mix, producing more output with superior texture and taste.
Before the official launch, Dei Group deployed 50 marketers across Uganda to gather feedback. From the north to the south, the east to the west—the reception has been overwhelmingly positive.
“The market is excited about a Ugandan brand that rivals global standards,” Katali noted.
Dr. Mathias Magoola, Managing Director of Dei Group, paid tribute to the customers who have supported the company since its humble beginnings at Tirupati Mall.
“Our journey from a small maize flour business to an industry leader is thanks to the people who believed in us,” he said.
Dr. Magoola also shared the company’s bold vision: becoming Uganda’s top taxpayer and generating over 40,000 jobs in the coming years.
“We’re grateful for the support of our government. Our environment has allowed Ugandan businesses like ours to thrive,” he added.
Kellen Magoola, Executive Director, emphasized Dei Group’s decade of experience in flour production.
“We’re back stronger and better. Bella Grain is a statement of our commitment to excellence,” she declared.
She sent a clear message to competitors: “The game has changed. We lead in every sector we enter—and we’re not slowing down.”
With Bella Grain now on shelves, Uganda’s baking community has a powerful new ally. Locally made, high-performing, and built on a foundation of trust—Bella Grain is poised to become the flour of choice nationwide.
