Collin Asiimwe speaks at a MultiChoice Uganda strategy event

KAMPALA, UGANDA — In a bold move to revamp its brand positioning in Uganda’s shifting media scene, MultiChoice Uganda has reinstated Collin Asiimwe as Head of Marketing.

Known for his sharp strategic mind and regional experience, Asiimwe is now tasked with shaping the future of key entertainment platforms: DStv, GOtv, Showmax, and Pearl Magic.

His return marks a calculated decision by MultiChoice to confront rising competition, shifting consumer behavior, and the evolving content landscape head-on.

“Businesses must move at the same speed as their consumers,” Asiimwe remarked, highlighting the urgency of adaptation. “The voraciousness with which audiences consume media today demands agility.”

A Familiar Face with Proven Impact

Asiimwe is no stranger to the MultiChoice family. He first joined the team in 2019, and during the turbulent COVID-19 years, he launched impactful campaigns that brought local content to the forefront.

Pearl Magic Prime, launched under his leadership, became a standout platform celebrating Ugandan stories.

His recent stint in Kigali, Rwanda, saw him sharpen his skills in advertising and strategic brand building across East Africa.

Now, with fresh insights and a sharpened digital edge, he’s back to lead a new era for Uganda’s top pay-TV brands.

Asiimwe’s qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication, and certifications in digital analytics and growth marketing, equipping him to merge data-driven decisions with creative storytelling.

Rising to New Industry Challenges

Uganda’s TV landscape has evolved dramatically. Piracy, economic pressure, and a surge in alternative streaming platforms have disrupted traditional models. But MultiChoice, under Asiimwe’s guidance, plans to double down on:

  • Localized content that resonates with Ugandan audiences
  • Stronger digital engagement across platforms
  • Strategic partnerships to drive content value and accessibility

“As the entertainment world transforms, we must not only keep up—we must lead,” Asiimwe emphasized. “This is a pivotal moment for television in Uganda.”

Looking Ahead

Asiimwe’s return signals more than just a hire—it’s a renewed commitment by MultiChoice to redefine how Ugandans experience television.

With data, storytelling, and a customer-first mindset, the company hopes to reclaim its dominant position in a crowded media space.
