KYOTERA, UGANDA – In a bold move to consolidate support ahead of the 2026 elections, NRM leaders from Buganda region have launched a vigorous campaign to rally voters behind President Yoweri Museveni and party candidates.
The mobilization drive, dubbed “Buganda for Museveni,” drew hundreds to Nabbunga playgrounds in Kalisizo Town Council on Sunday.
Key Figures Pitch NRM’s Development Record
Rose Namayanja, NRM Deputy Secretary General, set the tone by linking electoral support to tangible development:
“Our NRM MPs are your bridge to government services. Re-elect President Museveni and vote for NRM legislators to ensure promised projects are delivered.”
She emphasized quality representation, urging voters to:
✔️ Back performing MPs who actively lobby for constituents
✔️ Reject opposition “noise-makers” who allegedly fail to deliver
Haruna Kasolo, State Minister for Microfinance, showcased NRM’s footprint in Kyotera:
- Construction of 15+ health centers
- Establishment of SEED schools
- Expansion of Emyooga and Parish Development Model funds
High-Profile Endorsements
The event saw strong cabinet presence, including:
- Hon. Ruth Nankabirwa (Energy Minister)
- Hon. Kiryowa Kiwanuka (Attorney General)
- Hon. John Muyingo (Education State Minister)
Their unified message: “NRM equals stability and development.”
Why This Matters for 2026
With Buganda being a key political battleground, this mobilization:
🔹 Counters opposition inroads in the region
🔹 Leverages government projects as campaign tools
🔹 Signals early NRM preparedness for the polls
As NRM plants its 2026 flag in Buganda, the development-for-votes strategy takes center stage. But with opposition groups also eyeing the region, will these pledges translate into electoral dominance? The answer may shape Uganda’s political landscape.
