Skateboarding and Outreach Spark Excitement for BU’s Moroto Town Hall Meeting

Professional skateboarders perform thrilling stunts on Moroto’s roads, drawing crowds and promoting the upcoming Bank of Uganda Town Hall Meeting.

The Bank of Uganda (BoU) is gearing up for its highly anticipated Town Hall Meeting in Moroto, scheduled for Wednesday, March 5, and Thursday, March 6, 2025.

This strategic engagement aims to connect with the people of Karamoja, promoting financial literacy and inclusion while shedding light on the Central Bank’s role in Uganda’s economic transformation.

Skateboarding Mobilization Draws Massive Crowds

To generate buzz and encourage participation, BoU introduced a dynamic outreach initiative featuring professional skateboarders from Clear Level, led by Brian Skater.

The team electrified Moroto with thrilling skateboarding performances on both tarmac and marrum roads, captivating audiences across the municipality.

The high-energy display was held in key locations, including Singila, Natumkaskou, and Acholi Inn, before concluding at the town center.

The skateboarding demonstrations not only entertained but also effectively spread awareness about the upcoming Town Hall Meeting, drawing in large crowds.

Innovative Digital Truck Expands Awareness

Alongside the skateboarding spectacle, a digital truck equipped with large LED screens and powerful speakers toured Moroto municipality.

The mobile unit broadcasted crucial information about the Town Hall Meeting, ensuring residents received key details about the event’s purpose and schedule.

Brian Skater expressed enthusiasm about the outreach effort, stating, “It’s incredible to see the community engage with our performances while also learning about the Town Hall Meeting. We’re honored to contribute to this mobilization.”

Bank of Uganda Confirms Readiness

Jonah Waiswa, BoU’s Head of Stakeholder Engagements, affirmed that all preparations were finalized. He emphasized the importance of public participation in discussing the Central Bank’s impact on economic transformation.

“We are ready to host the people of Karamoja for an insightful discussion on the Central Bank’s mandate and its role in driving Uganda’s financial growth,” Waiswa stated.

Event Details and Theme

The two-day event will kick off with a public forum on March 5, followed by a leadership-focused discussion on March 6. The theme for the meeting is “Understanding the Role of Bank of Uganda in Socioeconomic Transformation.”

BoU encourages all community members, business leaders, and stakeholders in Karamoja to attend this crucial dialogue on Uganda’s financial future.
