Uganda’s comedy queen Anne Kansiime has done it again—only this time, she wasn’t cracking the jokes, she was the joke.
In a never-before-seen spectacle dubbed The Comedy Grill, the celebrated comedienne was hilariously roasted by some of Uganda’s biggest names in entertainment.
Held on Friday at the lush Sheraton Hotel Gardens, the event wasn’t just a comedy show—it was a milestone moment.
Organized by Talent Africa Group and proudly powered by Uganda Waragi Lemon & Ginger, the Comedy Grill wasn’t your typical stand-up night. It was an expertly curated roast, blending elegance with unfiltered humor in true Kansiime fashion.
Guests arrived dressed to impress, were snapped at the red carpet, and handed signature cocktails to kick off an evening of laughter and sass.
Before the main event, comedian Daniel Omara delivered a spicy warm-up set, giving the audience a taste of the heat to come.
The main show was hosted by the electric duo Tuwangye Richard and Deedan Muyiira, who kept the energy high and transitions smooth as they introduced the “Grill Chefs”—a star-studded lineup of Uganda’s finest.
From household names like Salvador, Madrat & Chico, Gaetano Kaggwa, and Dr. Miria Matembe to cultural icons like GNL Zamba, Prim Asiimwe, and Skylanta, each roaster brought their own unique fire to the grill.
Whether poking fun at Kansiime’s past sketches or her explosive rise to fame, no topic was off-limits—and no roast was wasted.
In his remarks, Hillary Baguma, Brand Manager Mainstream Spirits at Uganda Breweries, said,
“Seeing such incredible talent come together was truly special. Uganda Waragi Lemon & Ginger is proud to champion experiences that celebrate Ugandan spirit and humor.”
When Kansiime finally took her turn on the mic, she didn’t just serve comebacks—she shared genuine thanks.
Her speech blended sharp wit with heartfelt gratitude for her fans, peers, and partners who’ve walked with her through an 18-year journey.
Draped in a stunning pink floral gown, she received each jab with a smile, proving why she remains a national treasure.
Her grace under fire, paired with her own clever retorts, made the event a blend of humility and hilarity.
As the curtains fell, one thing was clear: The Comedy Grill isn’t just a one-off—it’s the birth of a new comedic tradition in Uganda. And if you missed this one, don’t make the same mistake twice.
